Static Control Components Releases Odyssey Toner, Smartek Chips for Samsung

October 1, 2008 - page(s): 138
SANFORD, N.C. — Static Control's release of Odyssey toner and Smartek chips for the Samsung CLP-350 series of printers allows remanufacturers to enter this lucrative market with complete confidence.

The Samsung CLP-350 printers will not work with a spent chip and will not work properly with a missing chip. Static Control's replacement chips enable proper printer functionality and have been designed, tested and built by Static Control. The printers feature two plastic nubs on the side of the spindle shroud. Static Control's replacement chip has been designed to fit around these nubs.

Chips differ by geographical region and Static Control offers dedicated Smartek chips for Korea, Europe, Australia/New Zealand, North America/Latin America and China.

Remanufacturers must drill a hole in the cartridge to refill the toner. Static Control offers a special kit, SAM350HEKIT, for this purpose. Samsung CLP-350 cartridges, like the CLP-300, CLX-2160/3160 and Xerox Phaser 6110, do not have a toner port. In addition, chips are difficult to access for proper placement. Static Control's entry jig allows remanufacturers to correctly position the drill bit when making the toner port and cutting away the bottom of the cartridge for chip placement. The kit contains an entry jig and hopper entry tool.
