A third-party test carried out by Rochester Institute of Technology’s Imaging Products Laboratory claims Ninestar’s EverBrite pigment ink rivals Epson’s DuraBrite pigment in both ultraviolet (UV) and ozone color fading performance.
The RIT tested two sets of print samples generated by an Epson Stylus D78 printer using EverBrite and DuraBrite inks, and Epson Stylus premium glossy paper. Print samples were put through extreme testing conditions (high ozone concentration, high UV irradiation) to evaluate ink color fading performance.
The contrasting testing data indicates that EverBrite ink rivals DuraBrite ink in both ozone and UV color fading performance. Photos printed using Ninestar’s EverBrite are difficult to identify color fades compared with original photos, which is comparable to DuraBrite ink.
This high concentration ozone testing results are based on industry-accepted ozone accelerating methods, simulating 25 years of photo color fading performance under indoor ozone conditions. And though the UV accelerating testing methods, the parallel tests of EverBrite pigment ink and DuraBrite ink revealed that EverBrite ink can provide competitive UV fading performance to the OEM.
