Thanks, but no thanks. Office supplies giant Corporate Express rejected Staples’ public, and apparently unwarranted, acquisition offer of $3.7 billion. In a statement on its Web site, Corporate Express NV confirmed receipt of an unsolicited proposal made by Staples. The statement went on to say, “Corporate Express is of the opinion that this proposal significantly undervalues the company and fails to reflect Corporate Express’ prospects.” Staples proposal was to acquire all the outstanding shares of Corporate Express ordinary stock for a per ordinary share price of 7.25 euros, representing a total enterprise value of approximately 2.5 billion euros.

Large offer. Office Depot is now offering large-format printing through its Design, Print & Ship Depots. Large-format applications include the printing of signs, posters and banners; visual aids; photo enlargements; store signage; engineering print services such as blueprints, schematics, drawings and maps – all up to 60-feet wide. Large-format prints are available on a variety of media types including matte presentation paper, glossy photo paper, artist canvass and indoor/outdoor vinyl materials.
