The discussions that Mahajan will have with Indian retailers will focus on his own modern-day battle of light and dark — mainly, educating retailers about the benefits of using remanufactured printer cartridges over OEMs.
The market is much like the United States in the early 1990s, when there were many companies interested in producing remanufactured products, but the lack of education and organization were difficult hurdles that took a decade to overcome. Mahajan said, “We need education about the market [in India]. The market is better now, but we still need education, education, education.”
Prefil System is planning seminars during Diwali to help retailers see the light, so to speak, about the availability of quality remanufactured product that Prefil System and a handful of other Indian remanufacturers provide.
