New imageCLASS MFP from Canon
November 12, 2007
Canon U.S.A. introduced the latest additions to its award-winning imageCLASS
product line, the imageCLASS MF7480, MF7470 and MF7460 laser
multifunction products (MFPs). The new imageCLASS 7400 series provides
'big office' workflow capabilities at a 'small office' price tag,
enhancing the productivity of burgeoning workgroups and busy small
office environments.
The
Canon imageCLASS MF7400 series performs printing and copying of
letter-sized output at 25 pages-per-minute (ppm) with full duplexing
capabilities for copying, printing, sending and faxing. This new
imageCLASS series is designed for office environments where smaller
office equipment is unable to handle the workload and large office
equipment is not yet needed. The models accommodate sheet sizes up to
11 x17 inches for print, copy and fax capabilities. The imageCLASS
MF7460 is the basic model in the series including all the functionality
listed above, while the imageCLASS MF7480 and MF7470 models
additionally provides built-in Ethernet providing network functionality
for printing and scanning, and the MF7480 model also includes Canon's
Universal Send functionality.
"The new imageCLASS MF7400 series
of MFPs offer Canon customers a variety of high-end office workflow
tools in a reliable easy-to-use consumer device," said Jim Rosetta,
vice president and general manager, Imaging Filing Systems Group, Canon
U.S.A., "The series provides customers with the right solution for
their specific office needs to help them operate as efficiently as
possible."
Each model in the MF7400 series has full duplexing
functionality for copy, print and fax as well as a 50-page 11x17 inch
Automatic Document Feeder (ADF). The 50-page ADF facilitates rapid
document scanning, copying and faxing of double-sided documents,
helping to reduce office paper consumption. Each model is operated
through a user-friendly VGA touch-screen interface. For those already
familiar with Canon's imageRUNNER product line, the imageCLASS MF7400
series is designed to provide high-end imageRUNNER functionality in a
premier SOHO device.
The MF7400 series devices include copy,
print and fax capabilities for paper up to 11 x 17 inches on both
platen and ADF. All three models include two 250-sheet front-loading
cassettes and a 100-sheet multipurpose tray. All three models also
include a large touch-screen control interface for easy-to-use
operation.
imageCLASS MF7470 The imageCLASS MF7470
- a step up from the basic MF7460 model - incorporates full network
connectivity for all MFP functions - print, fax and scan - making the
device an ideal solution for multiple personnel offices. The MF7470
model adds the ability to perform scanning over the network with the
ability to generate files in JPG, Tiff and PDF formats. The MF7470 also
has the ability to perform network printing with both PCL5 and PCL6
support.
imageCLASS MF7480 and Canon Universal SendThe
imageCLASS MF7480 model includes all of the functionality of the
MF7470, but also provides Canon's Universal Send capabilities, which
allows users to distribute scanned data to multiple destinations,
including individuals or groups of e-mail and Internet Fax addresses,
Fax destinations (requires Super G3 Fax single or dual line option),
device Mail Boxes, network or host files and folders, and to document
management applications, such as Canon imageWARE Document Manager.
Canon's
Universal Send helps customers improve their digital document
distribution workflow when sending digital document information to
e-mail addresses, network folders, mail boxes and Internet fax
destinations.
All three of the models in the imageCLASS 7400
series bring added convenience with Canon's Single Cartridge System
only requiring one consumable to be stocked. This system utilizes one
cartridge containing both the toner and drum unit, and is user
replaceable. A full cartridge is included with the device with an
approximate yield of 10,000 letter-sized pages (based on a five-percent
density original).
The imageCLASS MF7480, MF7470, and MF7460 come with a standard one-year limited warranty at a suggested retail price of $4,995
*, $3,995
* and $2,995
*, respectively, and will begin shipping to retailers in December 2007.
