How to Attract Media Coverage of the Remanufacturing Industry

Each individual in our industry has the opportunity, even the responsibility, to build media awareness and rally consumer support. We have the ability to develop a powerful media awareness campaign from ourselves and our customers. Our industry has the ability to orchestrate a consumer movement that could change the way OEMs must operate.

The threats to our industry and its members are a reality. The competition is fierce and the threats will be ever-present. There is no final or ultimate victory. There is an ongoing need for measures that position, strengthen and protect our businesses.

Following are steps for submitting information to your local newspaper:

Step 1: Determine the appropriate person at your local newspaper to receive the information (usually the city desk or business/technology editor).

Step 2: Prepare a cover letter (a sample is enclosed). Tailor the letter to the needs of your community, being sure to insert the name of your newspaper in the appropriate place in the letter.

Step 3: Include the list of FAQs and media articles, and send in with your letter.

Step 4: Be persistent. Send the media updates as they occur, such as the introduction of legislation, or an investigation by another local or state authority.
