Dell Releases Laser Models, Printer Manager Software

May 22, 2006

Dell introduced a new generation of laser printers distinguished by simplified printer management software and the capability to scale from small- and medium-sized business needs to networked enterprise demands.

Answering business customers' call for better network printer management, Dell debuted OpenManage Printer Manager software as a no-cost feature in its latest laser printer portfolio. It is designed to provide IT administrators a single console for customizable monitoring, management and reporting of all Dell and select 3rd-party network printers.

Dell continues to be a leader in delivering customers optimal laser printer price performance features such as color lasers for the cost of monochrome lasers and multifunction printers for the cost of single function printers , as compared to similarly featured competitor models.

Dell's new color printers include the Dell Laser Printer 3010cn and the Dell Laser Printer 5110cn which features the ColorTrack color control tool. ColorTrack enables administrators to control user access and print budget costs by remotely defining color printing rights at the user level, setting print volume limitations and tracking usage over a standard Web browser.

The new monochrome business printer portfolio includes the Dell Laser Printer 5310n, Dell Laser Printer 5210n and Dell Multifunction Laser Printer 1815dn.

"This new laser printer portfolio with OpenManage Printer Manager reaffirms Dell's commitment to improving the customer experience by integrating advanced technologies across the product line without increasing cost," said Tim Peters, Dell's vice president of imaging and printing. "This commitment is integral to why Dell printers rated No. 1 in overall customer satisfaction among business users in the J.D. Power and Associates 2005 Printer Customer Satisfaction Study."

Printer Management Made Easy

Building on Dell's open standards approach for systems management, the new OpenManage Printer Manager software enables comprehensive management of customers' network printer fleet. This Web-based tool simplifies remote configuration and deployment, customized report generation, supply replenishment and maintenance scheduling.

For example, Dell's intelligent software proactively alerts printer administrators when ink or toner levels are low, while Dell's Toner Management System makes it easy to purchase these supplies via a three-click process.

Additional OpenManage Printer Manager features include:
