Ricoh Introduces Afcio 2016/2020/2020D

November 17, 2005

Ricoh Corporation launched the Aficio 2016/2020/2020D digital imaging systems. Replacing the Aficio 2015/2018/2018D, this new series offers faster throughput speeds of 16, 20 and 21 pages per minute (ppm), respectively, and a wide variety of preconfigured models to fit everyone’s document management needs.

The Ricoh Aficio 2016/2020/2020D Series streamlines all aspects of document workflow – from input, to management, to output. Tailored to an organization’s desired function, these innovative devices can be configured as a stand-alone copier or highly productive Multifunction Product (MFP) with scanning, printing or faxing capabilities. The network-ready series further simplifies the daily information management process with the ability to connect to a LAN or wireless network, boosting the efficiency of any size workgroup. By linking to the MFP through the office network, users can easily send electronic files from a workstation to be printed at a later time, scan documents and send them directly to a client using Scan-to-Email and automatically receive incoming faxes either to the system or to their desktop.

To efficiently organize and manage data, Ricoh has equipped the Aficio 2016/2020/2020D Series with software - such as ScanRouter V2 Lite and DeskTopBinder Lite. Additionally, Ricoh provides Web SmartDeviceMonitor and Web Image Monitor to allow IT professionals as well as users to remotely monitor the various device functions, check toner and paper levels, receive e-mail error notifications and more.

“Ricoh’s goal was to develop a digital imaging solution that would allow companies to work smarter, faster and more economically, hence the Aficio 2016/2020/2020D Series. With its multifunctional capabilities, our customers are able to cost effectively expand their productivity with all-in-one professional quality systems,” said Hede Nonaka, vice president of Marketing, Ricoh Corporation.

The digital copying features on the Aficio 2016/2020/2020D are unmatched. Featuring a generous paper supply of up to 1,350 sheets on the Aficio 2016 or up to 1,600 on the Aficio 2020/2020D, users can manage through large print jobs with zero interruptions. A 100-sheet bypass tray further enhances output versatility enabling users to produce jobs on colored stock, transparencies and envelopes. To avoid costly and frustrating output errors, the MFPs automatically rotate scanned images to match the orientation of the paper stored in the tray.

Among other output capabilities are network printing, Scan-to-Email, and advanced fax functionalities. Featuring a Super G3 Modem combined with JBIG Compression, the Aficio 2016/2020/2020D can transmit hardcopy faxes in a rapid 3 seconds per page. While still offering a fast transmission time, the LAN-fax feature saves paper and time by allowing users to send a fax directly from their workstation, eliminating the need to print a document and walk to a different location to process the fax. The Internet Fax feature is another advanced and cost efficient means for faxing, which permits free transmission over the World Wide Web. Using this feature, documents can be sent to another Internet fax enabled device or personal computer, making it not only economical, but a convenient means to share information.

Available in a variety of configurations, the suggested retail price starts at $2,300 for the Aficio 2016, $2,900 for the Aficio 2020 and $3,350 for the Aficio 2020D.
