Muratec America, Inc., manufacturer of multifunction office equipment and business productivity solutions, announced the availability of three new multifunctional devices, the MFX-1430, MFX-1430D and MFX-2030. This marks the final phase in Muratec’s ambitious product overhaul.
“With the launch of the MFX-1430, MFX-1430D and MFX-2030 we have completely refreshed our product line,” says Yutaka Moriwaki, Muratec America president and CEO. “We now offer a host of solutions that will change the perceptions and expectations associated with office equipment.”
As NGP-enabled devices the 14-ppm MFX-1430 series and 20-ppm MFX-2030 are powerful solutions for the corporate environment. DHCP compliance and server-based driver installation allow the units to be installed on a corporate network in minutes. Web-based administration provides office/IT managers total control over the devices as they can program settings, set permission levels and generate reports from the desktop.
The standard high-speed Ethernet port and 33.6 Kbps fax modem enable a host of digital document delivery solutions including color scan to folder, FTP and e-mail, as well as transmissions to remote Internet fax terminals and traditional walk-up fax devices.
The color scan to folder is a key feature as it allows customers to perform a real-time browse through their network file structure and directly scan documents into specified folders. Up to 20 folder shortcut keys can be registered for one-touch scan initiation.
“'Awesome' accurately depicts these new devices,” says Jim D’Emidio, Muratec America vice-president of sales and marketing. “Recent studies by some of the industry’s top analysts support our assessment that the on-ramping of documents for digital capture is moving out of the copy room and into the small workgroup. These new devices allow for the seamless implementation and maintenance of document management and/or digital archiving programs."
On the fax side the internal address book can house 300 locations, each containing both a fax number and e-mail address. This figure can be increased to 2000 locations if the OfficeBridge Expansion Kit is added, an option that also includes the ability to store both personal and shared address books with password-protected accessibility. Users may import contacts from Microsoft Outlook (vCard) or other contact management databases (CSV). LDAP directory support is also standard.
Customers in high-volume fax applications can add an additional 33.6 Kbps fax modem, enabling the simultaneous sending and receiving of fax documents.
The small footprint brings powerful document distribution capabilities into cramped workspaces, while the high-yield consumables offer the most aggressive cost-of-operation in the segment 1 market.
“Not only are we offering the most technically advanced products on the market, but we are helping customers dramatically reduce their monthly cost-of-operation,” adds D’Emidio. “By transitioning small-run print jobs from stand alone devices to our NGP-enabled products, customers could realize a substantial yearly savings.”
These devices utilize a touchscreen user interface, a unique feature on a segment 1 device. The touchscreen is intuitive, making the entire digital document delivery process as easy as sending a traditional fax.
“The touchscreen serves two purposes,” says D’Emidio. “It makes complex technology accessible to the masses, working as a “GPS-type” system for document on-ramping. The touchscreen also provides the independent dealer channel a function that is unique to their market, something customers will not find on a desktop copier or fax machine at the local superstore.”
In addition to powerful digital document delivery solutions, these devices boast standard GDI-based network printing, an 80-sheet automatic document feeder, legal-sized platen glass, robust copying capabilities and a high-speed USB port for local printing and scanning. Optional PCL printing is also available.
All three units come with a 500-sheet paper cassette and 50-sheet multipurpose bypass tray, which is used to print letterhead, envelopes, overhead projector sheets or labels. The devices can be outfitted with an additional 500-sheet paper cassette bringing the total capacity to 1,050 sheets.
The MFX-1430 has an MSRP of $2,695 and the MFX-1430D, which includes standard duplex printing capabilities retails for $2,795. The MFX-2030, which includes standard duplex printing, has an MSRP of $3,495. The toner cartridge is rated at 16,000 @ 6% page coverage and the drum unit is rated at 30,000 impressions. Both front-loading consumables are user-changeable.
