Canon Unveils New Products

July 25, 2005

Addressing the needs of SOHO and mobile users looking for a portable copying solution, Canon U.S.A., Inc. announced the introduction of the new Canon PC160. The unit serves as a personal copier providing high-quality black-and-white copies in a lightweight compact design.

"The PC160 offers tremendous functionality for the user whose business takes them everywhere," said Yusuke Mizoguchi, assistant director, SOHO Workgroup Systems, Canon U.S.A., Inc. "Whether in the office or at an off-site event such as a trade show, the PC 160 delivers quality copy output whenever and wherever our customers want."

Weighing in at less than 19 pounds, the Canon PC160 folds into a sleek, compact shape resembling a briefcase complete with handle for easy carrying. The Canon PC160 features Canon's patented RAPID Fusing System, which provides instant warm-up eliminating long waiting time before copying. With no warm-up time required, the Canon PC160 can begin copying immediately at speeds of up to four copies-per-minute (cpm) for letter-size paper and comes equipped with a 50-sheet stack tray that accepts postcard to letter-size paper.

Like all Canon personal copiers, the new Canon PC160 offers virtually maintenance-free operation with Canon's exclusive Single Cartridge System, containing the drum, development unit and toner, for performance that requires little-to-no maintenance at just pennies-per-copy.

The Canon PC160 personal copier also offers tremendous versatility, copying onto a variety of papers, including stationary, postcards, colored paper, transparencies and labels. Copy quality is exceptional with a choice of automatic or manual exposure and automatic shut-off.

In order to effectively conserve energy, Canon has built an automatic shut-off function into the Canon PC160, designed to automatically turn off the copier after idling un-used for 5 1/2 minutes. These energy-saving attributes enable the Canon PC160 to meet the ENERGY STAR guidelines set by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the U.S. Department of Energy. The EPA established the International ENERGY STAR Program in 1992 to help prevent global warming by promoting the development and use of energy-efficient products.

The Canon PC160 will be available at national retailers in late August 2005 at a suggested retail price of $149.
