Business as Usual at World Expo 2003; Attendance Up Again, 110 Countries Represented

October 1, 2003

Recharger Magazine’s World Expo was all about business in 2003, and a lot of business at that. Many attendees commented on the high activity level and the energy on the show floor.

Show registration data indicated that the level of quality attendance at the show had once again risen substantially. More than 50 percent of World Expo attendees indicated that they had been in business for 10 years or more. Industry members who had been in business between one and three years had the second-largest presence at the show, indicating that the industry is still seeing its fair share of entry-level businesses.

With a total of 5,365 people in attendance, 2003 was yet another year of growth for the industry’s leading conference. “We have shown steady growth from the first event in 1996, which gathered some 2,000 industry members at the Tropicana Hotel in Las Vegas. No other industry event has yet to top even our initial show attendance, let alone show the continued upward climb that Expo has made in representing the entire global marketplace,” said Conference Manager Capri Edwards. The show drew participants from 110 different countries, with 33 percent of attendees from outside of the United States. “We have more than 70 new companies already interested in exhibiting and have commitments from nearly all of the 200-plus exhibitors from the 2003 show,” said Becky Wright, sales manager for World Expo. “In light of this exhibitor growth, the venue change and the challenges that persist in the industry that make information sharing ever more important, World Expo 2004 is set for another leap forward.”

World Expo 2004 moves to the Sands Expo Center at the Venetian Hotel. Dates for the show are Sept. 29 to Oct. 1. Attendee rates of $89 will remain unchanged. Suites at the Venetian start at $179 and rooms at Harrah's are $99. The three properties are situated in a triangle arrangement, making the show very accessible. Registration opens May 1, 2004.
