Recharger Magazine Moved, Then Silenced (Temporarily)

by Tricia Judge · Recharger Magazine · May 11, 2001

Recharger staff use cell phones to keep news and ads in production.
Thursday's wedding outside the conference room provides a diversion.
Telephone technicians work feverishly to restore communications.
Recharger's new home and its modern amenities have everyone smiling.
What would we do without modern technology? Recharger Magazine employees got to find out this week when the relocation of their office brought on a host of communication problems.

On Monday May 7, Recharger Magazine moved from its location on Charleston Blvd. to its new home at 2800 West Sahara, Suite 5C, in Las Vegas. The long-awaited relocation to larger facilities was undertaken with zeal, and even the intermittent problems with a new phone system couldn’t dampen the staff’s enthusiasm.

That was until the intermittent problems became omnipresent problems. From Tuesday morning until publication of this E-Charger, Recharger Magazine has been unable to place or receive phone calls. Only a handful of Recharger staff has e-mail capabilities, and faxes can be received, but not sent.

"The voice of the industry has suddenly run into problems hearing and being heard," said Executive Editor Tricia Judge. "The problem should be very temporary, and we do not suspect any OEM involvement," she joked.

The new office is less than two miles away from the former home of Recharger Magazine, and offers more space and newer amenities for the Recharger Magazine staff. The grounds are so pastoral that they have already been the site of one wedding in the three days since the move. (Only in Las Vegas does one get to write an article about toner cartridges while a young couple exchanges vows six feet away.)

"We are all very pleased with our new work environment, but we’ve had bad technology karma this week," said Sales Manager Gabe Reisler. "We look forward to sharing our enthusiasm with our customers as soon as we get the chance to chat with them again."

Recharger Magazine can be contacted via fax at 702-438-4025, or e-mail via tricia@rechargermagazine.com

. Although telephone service will be restored soon, telephone messages are being relayed through 101communications by calling 818-734-1520.
